Eugene Figure Skating Club
The Eugene Figure Skating Club (EFSC) was established in 1991, replacing the original Eugene Figure Skating Club founded in 1942 which disbanded when the Eugene Ice Arena closed. The EFSC was established to encourage figure skating in Lane County, Oregon. The EFSC supports skaters of all levels and abilities and provides an opportunity to connect with other figure skaters and figure skating enthusiasts. All ages and levels are welcome. You do not have to be a competitive skater to join. For those who are new to the sport this is a great way to connect to your new community, get informed and involved.*

EFSC membership is composed of skaters, parents, coaches, and figure skating enthusiasts. Our board of directors meets once a month and all members are invited to attend these meetings. (please check the calendar for EFSC meeting dates and details)

U.S. Figure Skating (USFSA) is the official governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. It is recognized as such by both the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Skating Union (ISU). As the governing body, U.S. Figure Skating’s mission is to provide programs to encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating. Among other things, U.S. Figure Skating has the authority to regulate and govern the sport in the United States, create rules for the administration of tests, competitions and other activities, and to organize and sponsor competitions for the purpose of stimulating interest in the sport.
The US Figure Skating moves in the field, freestyle, dance and pairs test structures set the standards of proficiency for the sport and are a measurement of a skaters’ progress. US Figure Skating Competitions are a principal incentive for figure skaters to train, develop and improve their proficiency. By ascending the competition “ladder” from regional to sectional and then to national championships, skaters gain entry into international figure skating events—among them the Olympic Winter Games and the World Championships.
However, competitive skating is not a requirement of membership in USFS or EFSC. Skating members may take US Figure Skating tests simply for the personal satisfaction of reaching higher levels of proficiency in the sport. Whatever your skating goals, the EFSC and US Figure Skating support you to achieve them!
